Warande - from innovation strategy to organisation-wide rollout

At Warande I worked for around three years as interim advisor and set-up lead/project leader for healthcare innovation and care technology. The assignment developed from vision and strategy formation into the programmatic implementation of a broad portfolio of care technology and AI within institutional elderly care.

What I did

  • Developed vision and strategic care-innovation policy and organised organisation-wide buy-in (Executive Board, management team, works council, client council, care professionals).
  • Held programmatic responsibility for a portfolio of care-technology and innovation projects across multiple locations.
  • Main case: implementation of freedom-circle, sensor and GPS technology under the Dutch Care and Compulsion Act (Wzd), aimed at greater freedom and autonomy for clients.
  • Implemented AI-supported night care (Kepler Night Nurse) and initiated sensor technology.
  • Harmonised and standardised nurse call systems across locations.
  • Implemented labour-saving technology (automatic temperature loggers) and prepared voice-controlled reporting.
  • As a senior sparring partner, developed and positioned a colleague to independently continue the innovation portfolio.

Result

An organisation-wide, harmonised and scaled-up technology portfolio, with demonstrable impact on client autonomy, quality and safety, and a reduction in administrative burden.
